Simcha Gottlieb, M.S., A.P., is a Board Certified (NCCAOM) Practitioner of Acupuncture and Oriental Herbal Medicine. He is a Licensed Acupuncture Physician in Florida, and is also licensed in California and New York, where he established his first successful medical practice. As a Professor of Chinese Medicine, he has taught at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (both the New York and San Diego campuses) and at Florida’s Acupuncture & Massage College.
In an age where specialization too often narrows the focus of medical practitioners, Simcha Gottlieb takes a “whole-systems” approach to the art and science of healing. Whatever the presenting problem may be – respiratory or digestive issues, stress management or mood disorders, weight loss or autoimmune disease, musculoskeletal pain or chronic internal illnesses – he considers the entire person: the physical body, the emotions and the mind, and the spiritual dimension of human health and wellness.
His earliest medical training was in healing with natural foods, as an apprentice to master nutritionist and internationally renowned author Meir Michel Abehsera. As the proprietor of one of America’s first natural foods restaurants in the 1970’s, Simcha became a nutritional counselor in his own right. He went on to study acupuncture techniques with a Korean master in the early years of the migration of East Asian medicine to North America. His formal education culminated in the four-year Masters program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM); since then he has continued his advanced studies and research with some of the most prominent scholars and practitioners in the West.
Along with his decades of study and practice in herbal medicine, acupuncture, and nutritional healing, Simcha Gottlieb has developed an integrated approach to whole human health that includes his training as a teacher of meditation, and of therapeutic exercise and self-development (qigong). Moreover, his unique perspective and insight is a result of having spent over three decades studying, practicing, and teaching the spiritual wisdom and practical guidance embodied in rabbinic and kabbalistic literature and traditions. This holistic approach of simultaneously treating body, mind and spirit is firmly rooted in the medical principles of Maimonides (Rambam) as well as the classical teachings of Chinese medicine – and at the same time represents the leading edge of modern trends in integrative health care. A sound body requires a healthy soul – and a healthy soul means a happy heart. Good health and genuine well-being go hand in hand with a meaningful, purposeful life, a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.
